Multifamily Building Performance Program - New Construction
Make your new high-rise residential building more valuable—before construction
begins. Starting with the schematic design, New York Energy $martSM
Performance Partners will work with the design team to incorporate potential
energy efficiency options into the building’s design to ensure ENERGY STAR guidelines
are fulfilled. The use of the Performance Partner as a member of the design team
allows the developer to retain a level of flexibility to achieve the ENERGY STAR
goals while addressing the other concerns of the project. After completion, tests
and inspections of the building will confirm that the final project matches the
energy efficient design.
Key Benefits
- Lower energy bills - A New York ENERGY STAR® Multifamily Building uses at least 20 percent less energy than a building constructed to ASHRAE code.
- Better building performance - Buildings are "performance tested" to confirm that they meet or exceed the New York ENERGY STAR® Multifamily Building standard.
- Improved health and safety - Indoor air quality testing is done to ensure a healthier more comfortable living environment.

Success Stories
"The energy efficiency elements we incorporated at 1212 MLK Apartments will directly result in lower utility bills for the residents and for the building, and because they are easily replicable, will help contribute to the long-term viability of affordable housing in New York City."
