Gas Efficiency Incentives for Con Edison Customers
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), in coordination with Con Edison,
is expanding its existing efficiency programs to include gas efficiency initiatives.
Gas efficiency incentives will be available for both the commercial and residential sectors.
The Program helps eligible participants manage their gas costs by identifying
potential gas efficiency measures and providing incentives for implementing
those improvements.
Eligible participants include all natural gas customers in the Con Edison Service
territory who are on a firm rate structure and pay the Monthly Rate Adjustment (MRA)
charge. Interruptible customers are not eligible. Eligibility to participate in the
low-income components of this plan will be set at households at or below 80% of
State Median Income.
How can I receive an incentive?
Homeowners Served by Con Edison Gas
For a limited time only - financing as low as 1.99% APR or up to
25% CASH BACK is available when you make gas and energy efficient
improvements to your home. Click here for the financial incentive levels.
The more work you have done, the higher the incentive level!
To participate, follow these three simple steps:
- Schedule a Comprehensive Home Energy Assesment with a specially trained, participating, BPI Accredited Contractor in your area.
- The contractor will perform an energy assessment on your home to let you know what the most cost-effective home improvements are that you can make. They will also tell you more about the financial incentives available to help pay for this work.
- You decide what recommended improvements to make on your home and the contractor will complete the work for you. They will help you process the low-interest financing or cash-back incentives!
Only participating contractors can offer these special incentives through the
Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program. To get started now,

Multifamily Building Owners
The Multifamily Gas Efficiency Performance Program allows building
owners who had previous technical studies performed to install custom or
prescriptive gas-related measures before the heating season begins. The incentives
are determined based on the estimated annual gas savings (Therms) of the proposed
custom gas improvement from the technical study and differ based on the market
sector definition of the building. If a technical study has not been performed the
Multifamily Performance Program provides a technical study and additional incentives
for gas and energy efficiency measures.
- Affordable Housing Building: ($2.50/therm) multiplied by Annual Gas Savings
- Market Rate Building: ($2.00/therm) multiplied by Annual Gas Savings
Applicant’s must have multifamily building(s) with more than 50% by gross heated
square foot (ghsf) area dedicated to residential tenants. They must be a Con Edison
gas distribution customer who are assessed the Monthly Rate Adjustment (MRA)
applicable to all Con Edison firm gas customers under rate classifications SC 1,
SC 2, SC 3, SC 13 and any corresponding SC 9 firm transportation customers.
Cooking only customers are not eligible.
