ENERGY STAR® qualified refrigerators have better insulation, more efficient
compressors, and more precise temperature and defrost mechanisms. They are also
availbale in many styles, sizes and finishes to complement your design needs.
Facts & Product Knowledge:
- ENERGY STAR qualified freezer models use at least 10% less energy than is required by current federal standards.
- All refrigerators and freezers less than 7.75 cubic feet in volume and 36 inches or less in height have to be at least 20% above the minimum federal standard to qualify for ENERGY STAR.
- The most energy efficient models are 16-20 cubic feet in size.
Tips:
- Automotaic ice makers and through-the-door dispensers incease energy use by 14–20% and raise the price of the model.
- To maximize the energy efficiency of refrigerators and freezers, position them away from heat sources, walls and cabinets.
- Doors should be sealed tight and the temperature of refrigerators should be kept at 35-38 degrees Fahrenheit and freezers at 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
